Overthrow Film: The Story of One Movie

Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench is a 16mm black and white jazz musical. Much of it was shot in Somerville, across the street from Artisan's Asylum. It to two years in the making, shooting on a shoestring budget, to finalize what started as an undergraduate thesis and ballooned to include a cast and crew of over 200, the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, and a budget of over $100,000. Producer Mihai Dinulescu takes us through the journey of producing a feature film the old fashioned way.

The event includes a screening of Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, named amongst the "Top 30 Films of 2010" by The New York Times and "Top 10 Films of 2010" by Film Comment Magazine, Time Out New York, and The Village Voice.

Instructor Bio:
Mihai Dinulescu is as an organizer, spokesperson, and producer. He studied economics and psychology, applying both through communication science. He is a founding member of the CEMI Electronic Media Institute, an educational organization devoted to technological creativity.

Mihai produced Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench. A 16 mm B&W Jazz musical. The film was picked up for distribution by Variance Films and released in late 2010. Guy and Madeline was recognized as one of the "30 best films of 2010" by The New York Times and one of the "Top Ten Movies of 2010" by The Village Voice, Film Comment, and Time Out New York.
